Questions: Participants always have questions about the material in the presentation. In our experience, answering questions one-by-one can add a half hour or even an hour to the presentation. We encourage organizations to provide participants with pieces of colored paper and the participants can anonymously write and submit their questions. We generally have a volunteer walk around with a basket collecting the questions. All questions are then answered at the very end of the presentation.
Iowa Courts Online Check: The presentation begins by talking about a very difficult topic: criminal history and ICE enforcement priorities. We have found that immigrant communities would rather be aware and prepared of any possible interactions with ICE. Following the presentation, we have volunteers at a table offer to perform a public Iowa Courts Online check to help determine whether a participant may be an enforcement priority.

Past Addresses Check: Many immigration programs require applicants to provide all past addresses for a specified time. We are still waiting on the DAPA and new DACA guidelines, but we anticipate applicants will have to provide all addresses since arriving in the U.S.

Individual Consultations: After the presentation and the Iowa Courts Online check, you may want to consider providing individual consultations for participants with specific questions about their circumstances. In order to hold individual consultations, your organization will need at least one immigration attorney or BIA Representative.
Brochure: Each participant should receive an informative brochure before leaving the presentation. Your organization can customize this brochure to include accurate contact information,
