Stella Burch Elias joined the Iowa Law faculty in 2012, after a two-year appointment as a Climenko Fellow and Lecturer on Law at Harvard Law School. At Iowa, she teaches the Advanced Immigration Law and Policy Seminar, as well as large Immigration Law and Civil Procedure courses.  She researches and writes about immigration law and policy and its intersection with public international law and comparative law.  She is a graduate of Oxford University and Yale Law School.  Following law school, she clerked for Judge Stephen Reinhardt of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Prior to law school, she served as a diplomat in the United Kingdom Foreign and Commonwealth Office.  She is a member of the Iowa Bar.
